When upgrading from SDK version 2.1.0 to 3.0.0, please be aware of following changes:
- Partition Layout: The way storage is organized on the device has been updated. As a result, flash images, recovery images, and update files created with previous versions (2.1.0 and earlier) are not compatible with version 3.0.0.
- Secure Boot: Updates to the bootloader mean that devices running a 2.1.0 bootloader cannot be recovered using a 3.0.0 recovery image.
What does this mean for you?
- Devices running 2.1.0 cannot use recovery or update files generated with 3.0.0.
- You must update both your SDK and your device to ensure compatibility.
How to upgrade safely:
- Install SDK 3.0.0.
- Flash your device using the new SDK.
See: Board flashing instructions
- Re-generate all software update (swu) files using SDK 3.0.0.
See: Creating software updates
- Apply the new update files to your device.
See: Applying a software update on a device
Once you have completed these steps, your device and project will be fully compatible with SDK 3.0.0, and you can continue development as usual.
