Installing Qt libraries and Qt Creator

Note
In order to use Qt libraries you must have your own Qt development and distribution licenses. Please refer to https://www.qt.io/qt-licensing for more information.

Supported Qt version

In order to test D7 SDK applications that use Qt libraries on the host, a separate installation of Qt libraries is necessary.

To ensure compatibility, you will need to install the same version of Qt libraries as the version that is packaged with the D7 SDK.

Currently, that is version 6.10.2:

  • GCC on Linux
  • MinGW 64-bit on Windows

Installing Qt

  1. Download and run the Qt Online Installer from https://account.qt.io/s/downloads.
  2. Choose "Custom Installation" to be able to select a specific version of Qt.

Also, make note of the installation directory, as it will be necessary for testing on the host in Running apps on the host. This guide will assume Qt has been installed to the default installation directory: $HOME/Qt (Linux) or C:\Qt (Windows).

  3. Expand the "Qt" dropdown and select "6.10.2".
  4. Expand the "Qt Creator" dropdown and select "Qt Creator 18.0.0" (or later).

If you are installing Qt on your Windows machine and would like to run SDK applications on your host machine, you would have to install the MinGW toolchain at this point. You can skip the next step otherwise.

  5. To install the MinGW toolchain, expand the "Build Tools" dropdown under the "Qt" dropdown and select "MinGW 13.1.0 64-bit".

After that, click "Next" and install the libraries.

Please, see also Qt's official installation guide.
