Veethree D7 SDK
|
To use the D7 with the SDK we must flash the device and validate it is running the correct version of the image.
The following steps ensure that the default development image is present on the board and the device will be ready for development. This can be used as a "known good" state for developing for the platform.
1. Expose the board flashing button
Please refer to the first three images in serial port connection section to open the cap and expose the serial port connector and the flash button.
The flash button is located near the debug serial port, towards the outside of the board.
2. Connect a USB-C cable between the D7 and the Host machine
Use the USB-C connector on the back of the D7, circled in red in the image below.
3. Ensure the device is powered off
4. Run the flashing script from an elevated terminal
On Linux, run
On Windows, in an Admin cmd.exe window, run
You can select whether to flash a development or release image by using either --development or --release, respectively, as the argument for the script. For the purpose of this page, please use the --development argument.
5. With the flash button held, power on the device
The flash button is the one that the arrow is pointing to in the image above.
You may need to retry steps 3-5 a few times if the flash-device executable exits with a libusb error.
The script has started successfully if a progress bar appears.
Once the progress bar appears, you can release the flash button.
6. After the flash completes successfully, power cycle the device
After flashing, the D7 will run its default application. It displays some useful information about the board such as IP Addresses, SDK Version, etc.
Take note of the version string it displays and check that it matches the version string found in vsdk-version.txt, in the SDK installation folder.
If they match, the D7 is ready for development and the SDK is installed correctly. Otherwise, please try reinstalling the SDK or contacting us.
The default application displays the boards serial number, its IP address if it has one, the Platform SDK version, the current touch driver and the current boot partition.
It is a useful debugging tool for diagnosing known issues such as:
In this section we have described how to prepare a D7 device for development by flashing the default development image.
The next step is connecting to the D7 via SSH.
